Head to head
Breville vs Ninja.
2 min readUpdated October 24, 2026
The short answer
In our collection, the two brands take different approaches. Breville’s machines focus on espresso: on five of its seven machines you tamp by hand, with a manual or automatic steam wand. Ninja’s two Luxe Café machines brew espresso and drip coffee, dose by weight with Barista Assist and froth milk hands-free. Breville lists warranties of one or two years on most models; Ninja lists one year on the Mini Plus.
Where they differ.
Drinks
Both Ninja machines list espresso and drip coffee, plus cold or over-ice options. The Breville machines make espresso; the Barista Touch Impress also lists cold brew.
Help with the hard steps
Both Ninja machines dose by weight. At Breville, the two Impress models assist with dosing and tamping; the others leave it to you.
Milk
Ninja froths hands-free on both machines. Breville offers manual steam wands (Barista Express, Pro, Express Impress, Dynamic Duo) and automatic ones (Bambino, Barista Touch, Touch Impress).
Size
The narrowest Breville is the Bambino, at 6.3 inches wide. The smallest Ninja is the Mini Plus: 12.2 inches wide and 10.1 deep.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Which brand also brews drip coffee?
Both Ninja machines in our collection list drip coffee as well as espresso. The Breville machines make espresso.
Which brand is easier for beginners?
Look for help with dosing and tamping, the steps that take the most practice: both Ninja machines dose by weight, and Breville’s two Impress models assist with dosing and tamping.
Which brand lists a longer warranty?
Several Breville models list a 2-year limited warranty, others 1 year. Ninja lists 1 year on the Mini Plus; the Luxe Café Premier listing does not state one.
Do you test these machines?
No. We compare the specifications each model publishes in its Amazon listing and, where the listing is silent, on the manufacturer’s official website. We do not rank machines by our own tests, and we never show borrowed ratings.
