How to choose

Which Breville should you buy?

2 min readUpdated November 1, 2026

The short answer

It comes down to three questions: do you want a built-in grinder, how much help do you want with dosing and tamping, and how do you take your milk? The Bambino and Bambino Plus are compact and need a separate grinder. The Barista Express, Barista Pro and Barista Touch add a grinder and leave tamping to you. The Impress models and the Oracle Jet help with dosing and tamping. The Dynamic Duo pairs a dual boiler machine with a separate grinder.

Three questions to narrow it down.

  1. Built-in grinder?

A built-in grinder keeps everything in one machine. Without one, you need pre-ground coffee or a separate grinder, but the machine itself is much narrower.

  2. How hands-on?

On most Breville machines you dose and tamp by hand. The Impress models and the Oracle Jet do it for you, with consistent pressure.

  3. How do you take your milk?

A manual steam wand gives you control and latte art; an automatic wand sets the temperature and texture for you.

  4. Counter space

Breville widths in our collection run from 6.3 inches (Bambino) to over 16 (Barista Pro). Check the listed height under wall cabinets too.
